Mini MAC Haul/Review!

The other day I was shopping around my local mall and decided to stop in to MAC. I told myself that I wasn't going to buy anything but, let's face it, it's nearly impossible for me to stop in there and not purchase something.

Here are some pictures of the few things that I did end up purchasing:

Left to Right: MAC Angel (Frost), MAC Impassioned (Amplified) and MAC Sunny Seoul (Cremesheen)
Top to Bottom: Sunny Seoul, Impassioned, Angel.

Sunny Seoul is a beautiful yellow-toned pink. It's toned-down enough that it works for everyday wear, but opaque enough that it still adds a fun splash of color to your makeup. It's a bit pinker than the picture looks, but I couldn't get the camera to pick up the exact color of this lipstick. I think that this guy is the perfect everyday pink for springtime!

Impassioned is a new favorite of mine. It is obviously extremely bright, but I think that it is so beautiful. To be honest, it was a bit of an impulse buy- I don't know how much I'll actually be wearing it this spring. I actually tried it on, put it aside after deciding that it was too bright, and then ran back to get it just before checking out. I have worn it already, though, and it is an absolutely brilliant color. I really like the amplified finish and I think that MAC do bright lipsticks better than anyone.

Angel is a pink-toned nude color. It's a frost, which tend to be a lot less opaque than, say, an amplified or cremesheen. I really enjoy this color for an everyday nude. Because it is a frost, it doesn't completely wash out my lips and make me look dead (which can be a problem for me since I'm so pale...) Although I do like some of the other finishes better, I think that this lipstick will be my new "go-to" nude... it's a lot more natural looking than some of MAC's more opaque nudes.

MAC Eyeshadow: Sable (Pardon the clutter.. eek!)
Sable is a very versatile color. Its a mid to dark brown with some purple-ish undertones. It looks lovely in the crease, and I have found that it works well as a light crease color for day but can be built up really nicely to use for more definition at night. It also looks gorgeous when put all over the lid and blended up into the crease. I've already gotten a lot of use out of this shadow and I think that it will become a staple for me!

MAC Powder Blush: Cubic
I have been in need of a neutral/brown-ish blush. I wanted something that didn't have extremely pink, red or orange undertones. I feel that blushes like that tend to be hard to wear with bright eyes or lips. This blush is great because of how neutral it is. I would probably classify it as a pink, but it is a very brown pink. The only downside to this blush is that it is not overly pigmented. It works wonderfully for me since my skin is so fair and too much of a brown color like this would look awful, but if you have darker skin you would probably need to build up this blush a lot to get good color payoff.

What are some MAC products that you've purchased recently? Did you end up liking them? Comment below!

Lashes, Lashes, Lashes (REVIEW)

So, I know that I'm hopping onto the bandwagon pretty late here, but Maybelline's "The Rocket" mascara has been doing seriously awesome things for my lashes recently.... For those of you who have yet to get see this lovely little guy (but, let's face it, who hasn't heard about it), here's a (low quality...oops) picture:

I'm a huge lashes girl. However, I'm also a creature of habit. For the past three or so years I have sworn by Maybelline's "The Falsies" and "The Falsies: Black Drama" mascaras. I decided that it was time to step outside of my mascara-bubble and try something new. I realize that trying another Maybelline mascara isn't stepping that far out of my comfort zone, but I figured that I should stick to what I know and love (not to mention mascaras like YSL Shocking and Benefit's They're Real are significantly more expensive...).
Anywho, I have been very impressed by this mascara. It's super long lasting, even more so than my Falsies (especially for a mascara that isn't waterproof). I would say that it's a tad bit more prone to clumping than The Falsies, but overall I think that this contributes to the crazy volume that it gives you. My only major problem with this mascara is that it is extremely hard for me to get off at night. I hate pulling on my eye area more than necessary, and, frankly, tend to be very lazy when removing my eye makeup late at night. However, I think that this one con is nothing compared to how awesome this mascara is. If I'm finally bidding farewell to The Falsie's (at least for now), this was definitely a good choice of mascara to welcome into my collection next.

Why hello, internet.

So, after almost two years of watching countless YouTubers and being a bit of a tumblr addict (which I can't say that I'm ashamed off), I've finally decided to stop being finicky and make this blog. I realize that the title is extremely tacky and that my background is utter crap, but I'm not too concerned at the moment considering that no one is actually reading this. I'm going to keep myself pretty anonymous right now, only because my family and friends do not know about this little project, nor do I want them to, at least for now. I have no idea what's to come of this little site (although a change of title and url are in order), but I hope that it will turn into something worthwhile :).
Alrighty, well, for anyone who actually is reading this, lots of love!

Kate.
